Winner to open for Naughty By Nature August 18 at Mahoney Park, Staten Island.
City Parks Foundation, New York City’s leading organization dedicated to providing free arts programming in city parks, invites New Yorkers to submit an original recording about their neighborhood park. This year, City Parks Foundation is paying homage to hip hop by taking it back to its roots – New York City parks. The winning contestant will then open at a CityParks Concert performance featuring the iconic hip hop stars Naughty By Nature on August 19, at Mahoney Park, Staten Island at 7pm.
RULES and INFO:
· All ages may apply.
· Rhyme must be at least 1 minute long and no longer than 2 minutes.
· The rhyme must include the phrase “Hip Hop started out in the park.”
· Content must be about the contestant’s community, including neighborhood park.
· No profane or sexual content.
· Only one submission per person.
· To enter, bring an original recording to one of the CityParks Concerts and drop it off under the purple City Parks Foundation tent. There will be a box on the table.
· The winner will open for Naughty By Nature on August 19 at 7pm. · Winner will be chosen by a panel of industry professionals, including executives from BMI and Shady Records.
· Deadline to submit your recording is August 12, 2009.
Entrants may drop off their recordings at any CityParks Concert before August 12, or the August 13 Joe concert at Marcus Garvey Park in Manhattan.

Yesterday July 23, 2009 The KRS ONE concert at Crotona Park was magnificent. All the lyrics where very positive and well put together as well as educational. I’m a huge fan of KRS ONE and so is my 13 year old son the message that KRS ONE delivers is “be yourself don’t let anyone create you”. My Son loved it and so did I, KRS is THE TRUE PHILOSPHER.
